About Gene’s Journal

Gene’s Journal is the untold, true story behind the adolescent years of Gene Roddenberry. It was during these years that Gene was continuously abducted by aliens for the extraterrestrial purpose of studying human beings – all of his experiences recorded faithfully in his boyhood journal.

The fantastic stories detailing the alien wonders he encountered would later inspire Gene to create some of the greatest science fiction television has ever seen. However in the childhood moments of these experiences, Gene found them to be less than inspiring. Young Gene is constantly trying to reconcile his earthling life with the hilarious alien encounters. After all, it’s quite hard to do your homework, meets girls, play on sports teams, etc., when aliens from the future continue to abduct you for their outlandish needs, missions and entertainment.

Gene’s Journal Creative Team

In 2004, after spending almost a decade in the world of advertising, Trevor Roth teamed up with his longtime friend Eugene “Rod” Roddenberry to form Roddenberry Productions. Two years after joining Roddenberry, he moved into his new role as the company’s C.O.O. where he has been instrumental in reshaping the company’s brand as well as its development of new, original content. Roth’s creativity in the area of entertainment concepts as well as that of business has resulted in a vision that will solidify Roddenberry as the quintessential space where sci-fi begins.

“Gene’s Journal is a fun, witty voyage into the early life of Gene Roddenberry that allows fans of Star Trek, Earth Final Conflict and Andromeda to re-imagine the origins of some of their favorite show characters, scenes, episodes and dialogue.” – Trevor Roth

“I love Gene’s Journal for several reasons. One, I respect and look up to Gene Roddenberry himself, as a creator, a visionary, a business man, and someone who understood fandom. Secondly, it’s just a TON of fun to toss this lil’ Gene into his world, and see him deal with school, girls, friends, home, parents, homework, you name it, all while dealing with two wacky aliens. The aliens really allow me to let loose on the humor! And again – this one is just plain fun to draw!” – David Reddick
